Mission & Core Values
St. John’s United is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization founded in 1963 and owned by 23 Montana congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The good work of St. John’s United spans the entire state of Montana, offering a wide array of services to seniors, families, and children—with no regard to religious preference, race, gender, age, diagnosis or disability.
With humble beginnings as Montana’s first HUD-financed senior retirement community, the St. John’s campus in Billings has grown to become one of the largest senior campuses in Montana, consisting of 109 low-income retirement apartments, 186 skilled nursing beds and two transitional care centers. Last year St. John’s served more than 600 seniors, and as the baby-boomers move into their retirement years, the demand for our unique, resident-centered care continues to grow.
St. John’s United is a community of diverse people sharing God’s healing presence. Our Mission is to provide living opportunities within nurturing environments of hope, dignity, and love.
