Twice Fed
As our population ages and the work force begins to shrink,
we will need to discover new ways to care for our frail
elders. The Twice Fed Program involves volunteers in
assisting residents who need help eating meals. This
exciting program includes training and provides hands-on
ministry.
Caring individuals volunteer their time and talents to
assist our staff in feeding residents who cannot feed
themselves. Volunteers first attend a three hour training
session where they learn how to properly help residents
during meal time. Following training, volunteers commit to
one or two evenings per month for service in this special
ministry. Our volunteers have come to learn that through
this very basic act of love and care . . . it is they who
are fed.
Twice Fed Training
. . . people serving Christ, by serving others.
"for I was hungry and you gave me food, I
was thirsty and you gave me drink." Matthew 25:35
Jesus calls us to welcome him by loving
our4 neighbor. The Twice Fed Program involves volunteers in
assisting residents who need help eating meals. Many of us
have come to understand that in feeding others, it is truly
we who are fed. Join this very special ministry at St.
John's Lutheran Ministries!
We ask that volunteers . . .
-
Attend a three hour training session
-
Commit two hours, one to two evenings
per month
-
Help transport residents to and from
the dining room
-
Assist residents with eating
-
Share a kind word or act of caring
Volunteers may arrive between 4:30 and
5:30 pm and be of great help to our staff and residents.
Many who have volunteered have found their experience to be
profoundly moving. In the end, it may be you who will be
ministered to!
