Elder Sharaths
St. John's Lutheran Ministries vision for the future . . . Enhancing the lives of our elders with the opening of the new Assisted Living Alzheimer's Cottages.

Just like home - family taking care of each other. Meals together, helping with chores, sharing stories, celebrating special times together.

A new position "Elder Sharath" was introduced in the first two cottages. This position enjoys the benefits of becoming a family with the residents they serve. The "Elder Sharath" will learn and take responsibility for multiple skills focusing on the resident and will become an integral part of the day to day decisions of the family.

An Elder Sharath will be responsible for creating a nurturing home for residents and provide care and services to meet their needs within an environment of hope, dignity, and love. The Elder Sharath will work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, co-workers, families, medical staff, visitors, and volunteers to create this positive environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, personal care, housekeeping, home maintenance, food preparation and service, activities, record keeping, and financial stewardship. Just like a home!

The Elder Sharath will need to acquire training in the following skills:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant

  • Food Preparation and Service

  • Housekeeping, Laundry, Light Maintenance

  • Activities

  • Household Financial Management

  • Computer Skills

  • Teambuilding and Problem Solving

  • Leadership

  • Purchasing and Ordering

You must commit to over 60 hours of training over a 6 month period, 8 hours per week. There will be an additional 80 hours for non-CNA's. Elder Sharaths will be paid for this training!

Fulltime and part-time employees at St. John's have access to a wide range of benefits.
Applications can be picked up at the front desk of the East Entry or printed out and mailed in. If you have any further questions, please contact Marlene Moran at 406-655-5621.
