Helen Jorgenson Rehabilitation Center
The state-of-the-art Helen Jorgenson Rehabilitation Center
promotes independence and quality of life at St. John’s
Lutheran Ministries. Named for St. John’s first full time
physical therapist, the Center is carrying out Helen’s
vision for maintaining a healthy and active senior
population. The talented staff has over sixty years of
experience and includes physical therapists, a physical
therapy assistant, occupational therapists, a certified
occupational therapy assistant, a speech language
pathologist, and rehabilitation technicians. The program has
been blessed with professionals from various realms of care
with expertise in all facets of rehabilitation and
conditioning. The common goal at the Helen Jorgenson
Rehabilitation Center is “maximizing our resident’s level of
function and quality of life.”
Inpatient and outpatient services include:
Other services include geriatric
rehabilitation, wound care, orthopedics, sports therapy and
home-health. St. John’s therapists have also performed home
safety assessments to ensure our residents are returning to
a functional and safe environment upon discharge from
skilled nursing. In addition, education on a variety of
topics is offered from all three disciplines to promote
wellness for our staff, residents and the community.
Kathy Satterfield, Speech Language Pathologist, has been
trained to perform VitalStim Therapy. This cutting edge
technology treats dysphagia (the inability to swallow)
through muscle re-education. Through this therapy, residents
are able to eat a wider variety of foods and many times
avoid the need for a feeding tube. This is just one of many
examples of how the rehabilitation team has improved the
quality of life of many residents at St. John’s.
